Chapter 834 Go Ahead Then

Graham knew his daughter wasn't being sarcastic. "I just worry about you, you know."

"I know, but you don't need to. I've survived on my own all these years, haven't I?" She

was already an adult, for God's sake.

But the man felt guiltier hearing that. "It's because you had to survive on your own

without my help that I feel guilty, Jenny. All I hope is that you can finally find a nice young

man to be with so he can protect you when I can't."

"Then you've got it wrong, Dad. There's no upside to relying on others these days." She

had never considered finding someone to protect her. Even if she did, she wanted to

actually like that person.

Graham shook his head, sighing again. "Where you got your steadfastness from, I have no

idea."

Jenny smiled but said nothing in return.

"You still have feelings for Alec Faust, don't you?* her father asked, still worried.

Jenny stiffened up instantly. She hadn't prepared herself for that question." Why do you

ask? It's been ages since we were together.’

"Love doesn't always thin with time. Sometimes it can even grow stronger and deeper.’

Just like the love Graham had for Jenny's mother. It had been decades since he'd seen her.

He still didn't know if she was alive, yet he still loved her deeply.

Jenny pursed her lips, staying silent now.

Graham sighed a third time. He had only guessed before, but it was confirmed now. "I

don't oppose the relationship, in truth. I just worry you'll be hurt again. But I know what

my Jenny is like. She'll protect herself from harm."

Worried as he was, he knew he had to let go one day.

Jenny wrinkled her nose. "Focus on enjoying your retirement now, please. You don't need

to fret about me any longer."

"You're right. Now that you are in charge of the family business, I can pursue other

passions." Graham nodded, trusting Jenny.

The woman glanced at him. "Are you really going to look for my mother?"

"Mhm. I've wanted to long ago, but just delayed it on and on. I hope your mother still

remembers me."

"Do you know her whereabouts?"

"Sadly, no.’ Graham huffed. He would've gone after her ages ago if he knew.

"Then what's your plan?" Jenny frowned.

"There's bound to be clues somehow. I had the portraits of the people who took your

mother away drawn. We should be able to trace them." As long as those people were still

alive, Graham trusted his ability to hunt them down.

Jenny wasn't so optimistic. It had been years, after all. People change. Still, she didn't

discourage him. "Go ahead then."

She knew that was the one thing her father would want to accomplish before his time, or

he'd live in regret for the remainder of his life.

"I'll find her, Jenny, and we'll finally reunite. I want to show her how beautiful and strong

our daughter has become." Graham smiled warmly, feeling hopeful.

Jenny smiled and nodded. "This might be good for him," she thought.

People often found life more enjoyable once they had a purpose after all.
