Chapter 219
“Emmett!” Clara clutched his hand, shaking her head at him.
She didn’t want to see the mother and son fighting because of her. She really didn’t give a hoot about
Sophia’s nitpicking! It even made her happy, because Sophia was so loving to her grandsons. She just
didn’t know how to convince him of this.
“Mom, if you keep nitpicking, there’s no way I’m gonna let my woman put up with you.”
Seeing her son really pissed off, Sophia glanced at Clara, softening up a bit.
“Clara, look, I haven’t blamed you for anything! Like you said before, I don’t have solid proof, it’s all just

Clara nodded hastily, “Exactly! You haven’t misunderstood me, you were just reminding me. Sophia,
don’t be mad, Emmett’s just been swamped at work lately, and he’s a bit moody, I’ll talk him down later!
You should go rest.”
“Alright then, you two have a good chat!” Sophia said and left.
Emmett frowned at her. “If you give in to her this time, there’ll be a next time!”
‘Didn’t your mom say it? She’s not blaming me! Just taking precautions.” Clara squeezed his hand,
“She already backed down just now, so don’t push her anymore! We’re family; we have to get along.”
He could only feel helpless with her constant concessions.
“You’re just gonna make me worry more.”
“What are you worried about? Clara said with a smile, warmth filling her heart, “I have you and the boys
looking out for me, I’m feeling great! Even if I’m truly been misunderstood one day, I can take it. I’ve
always thought life is fair. It gave me such a happy family, and it’s only fair I get misunderstood a bit.”
Emmett wanted to say something, but Clara had already hugged him tight
“Let’s put this behind us, okay? Let’s go change and tidy up, take the kids out. Don’t let this hiccup ruin
our time with the kids! You and your mom already talked it out. She’s mellowed out a lot, probably
thinking it over! If we keep dwelling on this, it might make things worse.”
“I just don’t want you to be hurt.”

his own mother, he couldn’t just let her maliciously slander his wife without any valid evidence.
“I really wasn’t hurt!” Clara pulled him along, “Let’s go change! The kids will be done with their
homework soon, we’re on kid duty today.”
“…Alright.”
In the kids’ room, Alex was holding a piece of candy, standing by the bed licking it.
In comparison, Aiden seemed more anxious. He was pacing back and forth in front of the desk, “Do
you think mom’s being bullied? I wonder if grandma and our parents are arguing.”
Alex said, “Should I go check it out?”
“No, you better not.” Aiden held him back, “Grandma deliberately separated us earlier, obviously she
didn’t want us involved.” “But we can’t just sit this one out!” Alex frowned, not quite understanding his
brother’s approach, “It’s uncomfortable seeing mom constantly getting blamed by grandma.”
