Chapter 185 Richard watched the distant light, which kept moving forward, maintaining the sdistance no matter how hard they tried to catch up. He was also exhausted.
Theodore felt like he was about to collapse from exhaustion. He panted as he said, "Hey, if she know we're chasing her, why doesn't she just turn off the flashlight and run? In the dark, any light is glaring to Stephanie clueless, or does she think she's that strong? Could she really outrun a bunch of big guys? Theodore wondered. But hearing the heavy panting around him, he fell quiet.
Richard glanced at him coldly. "Why do you think she's holding the flashlight?" Theodore looked back at Richard, his mind going blank. "Yeah, why?" It seemed like Stephanie up ahead wasn't tired at all and kept going without stopping.
Richard's breath cout cold as he pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the light. The white light stopped immediately, not moving forward at all.
Theodore's heart skipped a beat. His eyes narrowed in shock. "Are you crazy? Haven't you had enough of this running- around life? If you haven't, don't draginto it. You're really losing it." For years, not finding, Stephanie had nearly driven Sebastian out of his mind. Theodore couldn't believe Richard had actually killed her.
"It's over," Theodore said quietly. "Hiding from Sebastian is pointless now. Even if we buried ourselves underground, he'd still dig us up and tear us apart. He believed that they were completely screwed now. Richard shot Theodore a cold look, then strode forward without another word. Theodore and the bodyguards followed close behind.
Within minutes, they reached the spot marked by the light and found a large shepherd dog collapsed on the ground. On its head was a flashlight, and strapped to its back was the maid's phone.
The group stared, speechless. Theodore blinked. "Wait... This is..." They didn't expect to see a dog instead of Stephanie.
He glanced at Richard, whose eyes were darkening like a storm about to break.
'Oh, Stephanie, you really pulled something impressive,' Richard grumbled in his mind.
"Where's Stephanie?" Theodore asked, his voice trailing off. "Wait, how did she pull that off?" 'No wonder we couldn't catch up no matter how hard we chased. So it was a dog we've been after all along?' Theodore was completely baffled. On Richard's turf, she'd tricked them into chasing a dog while she slipped away.
"Isn't that the fiercest dog in the pack? How did Stephanie manage that? All those dogs and they didn't bite her? And she's not even scared?" Theodore shook his head.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Stephanie is something else. Mr. Giovanni raised a remarkable sister. What a mind!" He was at a loss for words. "Did she use a dog to trick you?" Theodore pressed, getting on Richard's nerves.
Richard's expression turned colder. He couldn't believe she'd used a dog to fool him. He let out a cold laugh and turned to Alessio, the leader of the bodyguards. "Check it right away." Aleshad already pulled out a tablet, his fingers tapping and swiping furiously.
Stephanie must have taken a phone when she left, but the maid's phone was with the dog. They couldn't help but wonder 1/3 Chapter 185 97% which phone she grabbed.
Aleshad tracked all the phones in the villa. The bodyguards were split into two groups-one here and the rest back at the villa.
Alesquickly figured out whose phone Stephanie had taken-one of Richard's spares. He also got her location. "Mr. Casalini, she's about six miles northwest. She took one of your phones," Alessaid.
Theodore looked at Richard, clearly stunned. Stephanie's mind was sharper than he'd given her credit for. Before, she'd seemed like a lamb among wolves in the Giovanni family. But now he realized that she was clearly a clever cat with claws.
'Six miles? Stephanie's got sserious stamina," Theodore said, shaking his head.
He couldn't believe that in that short time, she'd managed to put six miles between them-just by running. Richard gave Theodore, a look like he was missing the point. "She's in the opposite direction," he growled, his anger barely contained.
He glanced at the dog on the ground. Anger boiled inside him as he thought about how Stephanie had made a fool of him.
"Right. We've been running around too," Theodore said, chuckling. 'What on earth has Sebastian taught her? She even knew to stall by going in the opposite direction,' he thought.
"Chase her," Richard snapped, turning around.
"She's still taking the small paths," Alessaid.
"Are we really gonna have to chase her on foot?" Theodore asked.
-Richard ignored him and kept walking.
"Does she seriously want to run us into the ground?" Theodore muttered under his breath, irritation clear in his voice.
Richard glanced back, his eyes cold as ice.
"I'm just venting," Theodore said, holding up his hands.
'She doesn't even like Richard, and yet he's still acting like her guardian angel,' Theodore sighed inwardly. Thinking about Richard's feelings for Stephanie gave Theodore a headache. After all, Richard's real rival was Sebastian.
Theodore leaned in and said quietly, "Don't you hate her? There's Chris back in Long Harbor, too." Besides Sebastian, Chris had been her fiancé for two years.
Richard paused, his fists clenching. The air around him turned frigid. "Chris is nothing," he said flatly, then turned and walked away without another word.
Theodore's lips twitched. 'Compared to Richard and Sebastian, Chris really is nothing." Theodore watched Richard's figure up ahead, shuddering. "My legs are gonna give out," he groaned. He was sure that once Richard got her back, she'd be in deep trouble.
As Alespassed by, he said, "She took the small path by the highway this time.” Theodore's eyes lit up. That meant they could take the car. He figured he'd overestimated her smarts.

Stephanie kept the flashlight on her phone off as much as possible. The phone she'd found in the study had ме barely any battery left, and she didn't want it dying on her. The faint moonlight barely lit the path, but luckily, she had good eyes. 53 She panted, feeling exhausted but knowing she had to keep moving. She stuck to a small road near the highway, figuring it'd be easier to hide if Richard cafter her.
Her phone buzzed with a call from an unknown number. Without thinking, ΠΡ she hung up. Seeing the number, she knew Richard had probably tracked her down. She quickly sent her location to Sebastian. She knew contacting Sebastian might give away her location, but he was somewhere in Paginara, and she needed him to know roughly where she was.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHer phone buzzed again. It was Sebastian. "Sebastian,” she answered.
"I'm almost there," he said.
"Okay," she replied, scanning the dark road.
Headlights flashed up ahead, and more lights appeared around the corner behind her.
'Front and back-could it be Richard and Sebastian? No way. I've lost 5m Richard, haven't I? Did he catch up with the dog? If he runs into Sebastian, things could get messy,' she thought to herself. Stephanie ducked into the bushes and called Sebastian again.
He answered on the first ring. "I'm just 3,000 feet from you." Her mouth twitched. That was way too close.
"Sebastian, it looks like Richard's on our tail. If you don't have enough backup, maybe you shouldn't-" The sound of sudden brakes echoed nearby, cutting her off.
Stephanie's breath caught. She whispered softly into the phone, "Sebastian, did you just brake?" "No, I didn't," he replied.
"Oh no, we're in trouble," Stephanie whispered. If it wasn't Sebastian, it had to be Richard.
She didn't dare to say more, quickly muttering, "I'll hide first," before hanging up and turning off her phone's screen. She held her breath, crouching low in the bushes.
Through the gaps in the thick leaves, Stephanie saw the car door open not far away. Several tall bodyguards stood nearby.
Theodore stepped out first, followed by Richard, who had a cigarette in his hand. In the dark night, Richard stood in the car's headlights-tall, sharp, and intimidating.
