Chapter 126 He Was Acting Strangely Today
Lily’s voice cracked as she shrieked at Robert. Even so, she was unable to stop him from ending the
call.
When Daphne witnessed her half-sister’s despair, she tightened her hold on Bambam. The baby
seemed uncomfortable with how his mother had been holding him, so he started crying loudly, which
sounded quite jarring in the courtyard.
Daphne quickly comforted her baby as she walked back to Alvarez Manor. She no longer paid attention
to Lily, who was sobbing her heart out on the ground.

Lily read the text message while shivering violently, her chest already heaving up and down heavily.

She then got into her car and drove toward the location.
Meanwhile, Josephine and Lewis were having breakfast at the dining table in Styx Mansion. At the

She couldn’t recall the last time she had watched a movie with Lewis. It might have been five years ago

Lewis. The cartoon series she loved the most had been adapted into a film. After Lewis found out about
it, he took her to the theater to catch that movie.

Despite knowing Lewis would always space out while maintaining eye contact with the screen,
Josephine couldn’t help but be moved by his unwavering focus every time they spent time together.
Meanwhile, after a grueling journey, Lily finally reached a remote rural area by car, having traveled a
considerable distance. The spot she had arrived at was situated halfway up a mountain.
The surroundings were dotted with numerous dilapidated houses, remnants of the past inhabitants who
had long since departed. The abandoned dwellings stood forlornly, overtaken by nature as tall weeds
engulfed the crumbling structures, concealing their decaying remnants. After getting out of her car, Lily
could only venture forward with difficulty.
Anxiety had already taken over her mind by then. She glanced at her phone, quickly noticing the lack of
phone reception in the area. She clutched her phone tightly as she continued heading up the mountain
slowly.
Lily had no idea where her children were at right now. All she could do was check every house and
room meticulously.
Every house in the area was quite far apart. Lily moved deeper into the area, quickly covering all
available houses and rooms that hadn’t yet collapsed into ruin.
Unfortunately, she was unable to find her children.
Lily started yelling her children’s names as she sobbed, but there was no response.
“I’ve already followed your instructions and came here on my own! Give me my children! Where the hell

Lily was on the verge of suffering from another emotional breakdown. She accidentally tripped over her
feet and fell down, but she didn’t get up. Instead, she sat on the ground and started sobbing loudly.
Many insects were crawling past her in the grass. If this were to happen in the past, Lily would have
jumped and shrieked out of fright. Now, she felt nothing but numbness when she stared at the insects
around her. All she could think about right now was her children’s safety.
If things could have taken a different turn, Lily wished that it was she who got kidnapped instead of her
innocent children.
Just as she started to feel hopeless, she realized she could vaguely hear children’s voices coming from
somewhere.
Lily quickly stifled her sobs and held her breath so that she could pay attention to her
surroundings. The chilly breeze swept past her, allowing her to hear children’s faint cries from
afar.
Delight took over her instantly as she clambered up to her feet, ditching her bag in the process. Then,
the woman stumbled in the direction of the children’s cries.
Finally, Lily could hear the loud cries coming from a bricked building that was about to collapse anytime
soon.
She didn’t hesitate to open the door. The moment she did so, she saw her children strapped to a pillar.
“Caleb! Penny!” Lily quickly ran toward them, almost tripping over her own feet.

chained to the pillar.

“Calm down, honey!”
Lily wiped her tears away as she tugged on the chains. Unfortunately, she was unable to loosen them.
She picked up a brick near her and started smashing it against the chains. The house was filled with
loud clanging sounds for the next few minutes.
Lily tried to come up with as many solutions as she could to break the chains, yet she could not even
chip away at them. She also found various tools in the house; at one point, she even snapped a
wooden pole in half during the process.
As she tried to devise another way to save her children, she suddenly smelled a faint wisp of
smoke.
Lily’s head instinctively lifted as she sought to uncover the origin. Her horror grew as she witnessed
dense tendrils of smoke billowing in from outside, moving in undulating waves. It was only a matter of
time before the smoke engulfed the entire house.
Her heart sank to the pit of her stomach at that moment. Despair crashed against her sanity in powerful
tides, causing her to smash anything she could find onto the chains with all of her strength.
With each passing moment, the smoke grew thicker, enveloping the surroundings in an opaque shroud.
In tandem, the house’s interior took on an increasingly vibrant crimson tint. Amidst this unsettling
scene, scattered sparks of fire danced and glimmered.
The children’s cries, combined with the loud sounds of Lily smashing things against the chains, rang
out loudly in the mountain.
At that time, the flames started to lick the walls and swallowed their way toward the roof beams. Soon,
they would reach the room where the children and Lily were.

and free her children.
