What Separates Me and You

The moment Josephine heard the voice, she quickly raised her head to stare at the driver’s seat. Even

though she only saw the man’s silhouette, his signature hairstyle was more than enough to reveal his

actual identity.

Josephine clutched her phone tightly as she reached out to open the car door as quickly as she could.

Unfortunately, it was already locked, so she was unable to open it.

Anxiety washed over her instantly, prompting her to hit the call button immediately.

Josephine stared at her phone screen, which showed her call getting interrupted since Lewis was

currently on another call.

The glimmer of hope was snuffed out as her heart sank upon realizing that fact. As a result, she

dropped her phone, letting it land next to her feet.

Seth glanced at the rearview mirror. When he noticed the number of cars tailing him from behind, he

couldn’t help but click his tongue.

“Josephine, tell me. Does Lewis care about you? Or does he not give a damn about you?”

Josephine looked up at the rearview mirror, which reflected Seth’s eyes that carried a hint of a

smile.

“Then again, your answer doesn’t matter anymore. You might as well forget about this place. You want

to leave Elysium, right? I’ll fulfill your wish for you.”

Once Seth was done speaking, his foot pressed down on the gas pedal, resulting in the car speeding

down the road swiftly.

Meanwhile, when Lewis was done with his call, he received a barrage of messages from

Josephine in one go.

“Are you alright?”

“Where are you?”

“Are you coming home tonight?”

Soon, another call came in. It was Conrad.

“President Alvarez, Madam-”

“What is it?”

“She got into a car and left the mansion. We thought she went to look for you, but the route

she took seemed different. Our men are still tailing her as we speak.”

Once Conrad finished his report, he waited a long time, but Lewis never responded. Confused, he

looked at his phone screen, which still showed the call being connected to his boss’ phone.

“President Alvarez?”

“Follow her,” Lewis uttered calmly. Not a trace of emotion could be detected in his tone.

However, Conrad started feeling uneasy upon hearing his boss’ order. “U-Understood, sir.”

He quickly ended the call after that. Then, he dialed another phone number to inquire about the

situation.

Seth’s car was speeding very quickly then, but the cars following him weren’t slow either. Just as Lewis’

men were closing in on his car, several minivans appeared seemingly out of nowhere, swiftly

maneuvering to separate their vehicles from Seth’s car.

That resulted in an inevitable crash coming from the men’s cars, as they couldn’t apply the brakes in

time.

Josephine turned around immediately upon hearing a loud crash coming from behind. She saw many

cars stacked together in a major car accident, which caused that particular stretch of the road to be

congested for the time being.

She clenched her fists tightly before glancing at the rearview mirror once again. It was adjusted at an

angle where she could see Seth’s eyes.

The man looked in the rearview mirror as though he could sense her looking at him. He responded by

smiling at her, so his eyes ended up curving upward.

Josephine quickly averted her gaze. She then looked down and bent over to pick up her phone.

She had no idea how long the journey was before Seth finally slowed the car down to a halt. When she

noticed the wilderness around her, she was so anxious that her palms were clammy with sweat.

Seth got out of the car and slammed the car door behind him. Then, he headed to the back and.

opened the door for Josephine before dragging her out of the car forcibly.

He was very rough with her, so she ended up falling to the ground while getting out of the car. However,

Seth quickly yanked her to her feet.

Seth possessed great physical strength, which made Josephine feel defenseless.

The man dragged her into the woods with a vice-like grip on her wrist. Poor Josephine could only

stumble behind him. D

Even though it didn’t rain, the grassy ground was quite damp. After traversing through the woods for a

short time, Josephine’s pants and shoes were completely drenched, thanks to the puddles.

The poor woman didn’t have the strength to go on after walking for a very long time. Her knees buckled

together like jelly as she sank to the ground in exhaustion.

Seth paused in his tracks before turning around to glance at Josephine.

“Get up.”

The woman tilted her head upward to look at him. Seth’s voice was extremely gentle, and there was

even a hint of a smile tainting his tone, which made him seem very harmless. Josephine shook her

head subconsciously in response, seeing as she was so tired that she could barely even move.

Seth still had a tight grip on her wrist, so he dragged her across the ground after noticing she wouldn’t

move.

Left without a choice, Josephine could only force herself to get up and stumble after Seth.

Meanwhile, Lewis was present at the accident site. He stared at the cars that were piled on top of one

another in a jumbled mess without uttering a word.

Conrad stood next to him cautiously while shooting glances in his direction from time to time.

“P-President Alvarez, Old Mr. Alvarez i-is calling you.’

Lewis remained silent for a long time. Finally, he turned around to glance at Conrad’s phone. By then,

Alan had already ended the call.

He then turned around to leave the scene. “Keep looking for them. They are still in Elysium.”

“Yes, sir.”

Conrad scratched his head, feeling quite perplexed the whole time. Lewis was enraged when

Josephine ran away from the mansion in the past, but now that she got kidnapped, he was looking very

calm and collected instead. What on earth was that boss of his thinking?

Could it be that Lewis thought of Seth as a nice person who wouldn’t do anything to Josephine?

That couldn’t be the case. Seth was the type who didn’t even care about his own wife. Why would he

even be nice to Josephine?

No matter how much Conrad thought about it, he still couldn’t understand what was going on. All he

could do was follow Lewis from behind.

At that time, Robert had already gotten released from prison. He was furious, to say the least. After all,

he never expected that his own daughter would be the one framing him.

Of course, Robert never knew that Daphne was so heartless and cruel to the point that she was willing

to kill her own sister.

Before the authorities took Daphne away, she received a document.

It was a document on Seth. All of the information matched what she knew of him except for the

attached picture.

Apparently, the Seth she knew wasn’t the actual Seth Fairchild. The Seth she had married was an

impostor. He forged his name for unknown reasons.

All Daphne felt was irony. Her husband, the very same man she had spent the past two years with, had

a fake identity the whole time.

Since Derek had solid evidence backing him up, Daphne couldn’t even defend herself. In the end, she

could only confess to the crime and plead guilty.

The only hope of salvation she had right now was that Lewis would save her from her fate. That was

why Daphne had to plead guilty.

It was already a new day.

Josephine slumped on the ground in the woods. Seth had dragged and yanked her through the woods

throughout the night, so her entire body was already drenched from the morning dew. Even her hair

was extremely messy.

Seth leaned against a tree next to her with his eyes closed. He looked prim and proper in comparison

with Josephine’s disheveled appearance.

The woman stared at Seth’s closed eyes for a while just to make sure that he wasn’t showing. any

signs of stirring awake. With her lips pursed, she got up quietly and started to tiptoe in the direction

they had just come from.

However, Josephine could only take one step before feeling a weird tightness gripping her ankle. The

next thing she knew, she tripped over and fell to the ground heavily.

Josephine quickly turned back to check on her ankle. She finally realized a rope had been tied around

her ankle without her knowledge. Seth happened to be clutching the other end of the rope tightly.
