Chapter 161 Enrapture Those Around Him

Josephine’s heart sank, and she looked at Lewis nervously. She grimaced and forced out a smile. She

gestured, “I’ll take it when I go back.”

Lewis’ gaze flickered, and he said, “Don’t take it anymore.”

Josephine was taken aback. Lewis reached out his hand and tucked a few strands of hair behind her

ear as he said vaguely, “Didn’t you say that you like a girl?”

Josephine froze in the car seat, suddenly not knowing how to react. It had slipped her mind that Lewis

desired a child. The painful memory of their child, who had passed away two months ago, resurfaced in

her mind due to Lewis’ words. A profound wave of grief and bitterness surged within her, causing a

lump to form in her throat and tears to well up in her mind. She was really becoming more and more

forgetful.

Lewis furrowed his brows lightly and abruptly withdrew his hand. He fastened his seatbelt and drove

off. Josephine turned to face the window, and tears streamed down from the corner of her eyes.

Soon, they arrived at Alvarez Manor. Before they entered, they saw Sierra standing on the side of the

road, looking around. When she saw Lewis’ car, her face lit up.

Josephine’s heart tightened when she saw her. Then, she glanced at the man beside her. Sure

enough, he slowed down the car and pulled over in front of Sierra. He could not overlook Sierra even

when Josephine was in the car with him. He did not care about how Josephine. would feel when she

saw Sierra.

He wound down the window, and Sierra leaned forward to look into the car. The moment she saw

Josephine, the smile on her face vanished. She asked, “Why are you two together?”

Lewis did not answer her question. He tilted his head and asked, “What’s up?”

“I can’t get through to your phone and thought you might be having suicidal thoughts. I went to your

mansion but did not find you, so I decided to come here and test my luck, hoping to get some

information on your whereabouts,” Sierra said.

Lewis pondered for a moment before turning to Josephine and said, “You head in first.”

Josephine clenched her fists and glanced at Sierra before shifting her gaze to Lewis. Ultimately, she

relaxed her fists, opened the car door, and silently exited the vehicle. Then, she walked to the mansion

alone.

Sierra stared at Josephine as she walked into the mansion, a tinge of envy taking root in her heart. She

could not explain why she felt that way, even though she knew Lewis liked her more. Nonetheless, the

feeling of jealousy persisted, stemming from the fact that Josephine could legitimately stay together

with Lewis.

After walking for some distance, Josephine whipped her head around on a whim. She saw Sierra

leaning forward with half of her body inside the car as they hugged. Josephine felt a stab in her heart.

She quickly withdrew her gaze and hurried into the mansion.

Greed emerged as the source of their discontent. Both Josephine and Sierra were consumed by their

own desires, longing for what the other possessed.

Sierra wrapped her arms around Lewis’ neck and wanted to kiss him, but he pushed her face away.

Sierra complained, “Can’t I even give you a kiss?”

“There’s paparazzi behind you,” Lewis reminded her.

Sierra was stunned for a moment. She instinctively followed Lewis’ line of sight and caught a glimpse of

a figure that seemed to flicker and distort behind a nearby tree. She pouted and released Lewis. “Let

them take all the pictures they want. I’m not afraid.”

As she said that, she leaned against the window and laughingly said, “It appears to me that you’re the

one who is afraid.”

Lewis remained nonchalant, leaning back, and said, “Why should I be afraid?”

“Then I don’t see a problem. Get out of the car and let them take a picture of your face too.” Sierra

opened the car door and yanked his arm.

Sierra was merely joking, and to her surprise, Lewis actually got out of the car and closed the car door

behind him. He stood beside Sierra with his hands in his pockets. Looking at Sierra’s shocked face, he

asked, “What’s the matter?”

Upon hearing that question, Sierra came back to her senses and hugged his waist as she replied, “I

missed you.”

His penetrating and profound gaze remained fixed on her, enveloping Sierra with an oppressive feeling.

Sierra found herself burdened with guilt for no apparent reason and quickly looked away. After that, she

said, “I’m worried about you. I was afraid that you’d hurt yourself. Oh, and…”

As she spoke, she took out a card from her purse. “This is for you.”

Lewis took a glance at the debit card and did not take it.

Sierra continued, “I’ve sold all the clothes I haven’t worn before, along with several purses. I also sold a

few cars that I had never driven. I’m currently seeking someone to assess the value of the house. Once

it’s sold, I plan to deposit the proceeds into this account. I believe the house should fetch around 80

million dollars. Adding that to what’s in the bank now, there should be about 200 million dollars. My pay

from the shoot…”

Lewis interrupted her, “Sierra.”

Sierra was stunned, and she gave him a confused look, “Is anything wrong?”

Lewis took the card from her hand and put it back into her pocket. “You don’t need to do this.”

“Is it not enough?”

Lewis sighed. He turned to look at the night sky as he said, “I don’t need it.”

“Why won’t you need it?”

“Who do you think I am?” he asked.

Sierra found herself speechless. He was an enigmatic figure, neither entirely good nor bad, always

shrouded in mystery. Yet, it was his captivating aura that drew her in, and the unwavering confidence

with which he commanded any situation. Simply put, no woman could resist a man who exuded the

presence of a leader. Just by standing there, he had the power to enrapture those around him.

Sierra stayed silent for some time. Lewis looked her in the eyes and said, “Even if there comes a day

like this, do you think I would need a woman to help me pay my debts?”

Sierra was dumbfounded by Lewis’ words, particularly the cryptic opening of his sentence. She did not

understand what he meant by “Even if there comes a day like this.” She wondered if he had lied about

what he had said before. She asked, “Wh-What do you mean?”

Lewis did not give her an explanation. He helped her button up her coat and said, “Head home first. I’ll

see you later.”

Sierra felt a rush of joy in her heart and pushed everything he said to the back of her mind. She

answered, “Alright, come earlier, okay?”

“I’ll try.”

Sierra pouted and went into her own car. She wound down the window and waved goodbye to Lewis

before she left. In truth, she just came here to confirm Lewis’ attitude. After all, what he said that night

made her feel insecure. After obtaining his response, Sierra’s heart came back

to life, and she felt motivated.

After Sierra left, Lewis drove the car into Alvarez Manor. The mood in the house was quite somber.

Although there were people everywhere, the air was stiflingly dull. He walked to the living room, but no

one was there. He did not stop there and went to the study upstairs. He entered the study without

knocking.

Robert was drinking tea on the couch. He seemed a little carefree instead of getting angry like he did

that day. When he saw Lewis, he sneered, “I thought Chairman Alvarez did not care about this humble

manor anymore after gaining absolute power. What made you come back?”

Lewis walked to the couch opposite him and sat down. He said, “I just have some questions that I

would like to get some answers from you, Father.”

Robert placed down his teacup and leaned back calmly. “You are the chairman now. How can a retired

old man like me know something you don’t?”

Lewis ignored his question and said, “Even the chairman is not omniscient. Why did the father who

once valued his son suddenly turn against him? After all, he can’t read minds. Wouldn’t you agree,

Father?”

Robert paused for a moment, looking displeased. He laughed sarcastically and said, “You had the

audacity to ask? Shouldn’t you give me an explanation about that matter with Lily? I went to great

lengths to nurture you and gave you shares. In the end, you repay me with this. I wasted so much effort

only to raise an ingrate like you.”

Lewis stared at him and snickered, “I’m sure you are aware that this is not what I’m talking about.”
