He saw that she was alone. "He..." "He went out," Clara finished his sentence for him.
Alexander nodded and didn't ask further. "The weather's nice today. You've been cooped up in this hospital room for days. Want to go outside for a walk and get ssun?" She looked out the window. Indeed, the sun was shining brightly.
The past few days had been gloomy, and Wren had been worried the wind would make her condition worse, so he hadn't let her go outside much.
She had been feeling a little stuffy.
"Sure," Clara agreed with a smile.

"Let's go," she said, about to walk forward.
"Wait a second," he suddenly called out.

She held her breath, her fingers instinctively clenching, her heartbeat picking up speed. She felt the urge to step back.
"Don't move," Alexander said in a low voice as he lowered his gaze and wrapped a scarf around her neck.
Clara was momentarily stunned at the soft warmth against her skin. She looked down and realized it was Alexander's black knit scarf.
Her face instantly flushed a deep shade of red. The scarf was still carrying the warmth from when he had just taken it off, making her even more flustered.
"I'm not cold. You should keep it," she said, not daring to meet his eyes.
Trying to cover up her nervousness, she reached up to remove the scarf and return it to him.

"Mr. Sinclair, here to see Ms. Salford again?" The nurse greeted Alexander with a smile, seemingly mocnoticing Gtara, who was bundled up tightly in her coat. "She should be discharged tomorrow. Aren't you going upstairs to see her before you leave?" Cóntent Alexander froze. His first reaction was to glance behind him. Clara stood just two steps away, staring at him in surprise.
